A group of eager teenagers learned all about the Kinetic Foundation before raising £200 with the help of a keepie-uppie challenge.
The National Citizen Service (NCS) volunteers, aged 16 and 17, visited Kinetic HQ in Croydon for a presentation on how the charity is run.
Keen to put what they learned into practice, the group of 13 then spread the word to bring in donations and held a kick-up challenge in Wandle Park.
Lead volunteer Kenisia Pascal, 17, who lives in Croydon, said: “It was a good turnout and it went really well.
“We spoke to friends, family, teachers. Anyone. We told them all about the charity and about our ideas.
“We then went to the park and did a keepie-uppie challenge for the children there.”
Kenisia and her team handed out medals to participants and a trophy to a boy who topped the kick-up charts with seven.
The NCS is a government-backed programme which aims to bring young people from diverse backgrounds together and provide them with skills for life.
