Manchester City have signed U16 Kinetic Academy player Yeboah Amankwah after a last minute offer appeared on the table on Friday.

We reported last month of a successful trial at big rivals Manchester United, with Amankwah making a number of appearances in United’s youth sides. However, news began to break on Friday afternoon of a late Manchester City offer.

City had been monitoring the 16-year-old defender throughout his trial and Amankwah put pen-to-paper on Friday afternoon.

He now hopes to follow in the footsteps of Kinetic graduates Wes Fonguck (Barnet), Myles Kenlock (Ipswich), Omar Richards (Reading), Joe Aribo (Charlton) and Josh Maja (Sunderland) in making strides towards first-team football.
