The Gothia Cup is the largest international tournament in youth football with around 1,750 teams from over 80 nations taking part.

This Summer, Kinetic will be returning to Gothenburg, Sweden, where the tournament takes place, for the 5th year in a row. This year it is our Under 15 squad who will be travelling approximately 970 miles to take on competition from some of the most talented youth football sides from across the globe. Previous talents to have played in the tournament include Andrea Pirlo (1990), Xabi Alonso (1995) and Aribo (2013).

In the group stage of the tournament, Kinetic Academy will go up against Swedish sides Kallhälls FF and  Piteå IF, as well as Roanoke Star from the USA. Group stages kick off on the 17th of July.

Gothia opening ceremony 2016

Kinetic have experienced success previously in this tournament with the under 18’s taking home the B-Finals trophy back in 2014 and the Under 17’s coming runners up in  Gothia Cup China last Summer in a heartbreak defeat to South African side Mamelodi Sundowns. Kinetic coaches are confident that this years selected squad has the talent to achieve great things at this years tournament.

We would like to wish the boys a safe journey and the best of luck in this years tournament, play well boys!

You can follow their progress from the start of the tournament on the 17th July HERE.
