A group of our young people visited Solent University in Southampton where they gained an insight into the BSc Football Studies course and were shown around the campus. The purpose of our university visits are to show the potential Higher Education pathway post A-levels when they graduate from the Kinetic Academy full time programme.

Kinetic Academy Coach Cairo Duhaney-Burton studied Sports Development & Coaching at Solent University during 2015-2018 so he was able to give first hand knowledge of his experience as well. Cairo currently plays for Wessex League Premier Division side Hythe & Dibden, based near Southampton.

Cairo: “It was a really good day, its vital that our young people on the Kinetic Academy programme understand the different exit routes available to them. I didn’t intend on going to university, I thought I would sign at a professional club. It’s a good opportunity for them to see they can study something at a high level in something they’re interested in, like the football studies degree. There is also the Non-League opportunities and University Football, there’s a lot industry they can go into and we just provide them with the knowledge gained from these experience days”
