As part of our partnership with the Real Madrid Foundation (established in 2019 for promoting sports and education activities in London), our Kinetic Academy coaches were given the opportunity to take part in a course in which they will gain an accreditation at the end of. The course was run by Paco Grabasco, which focused on the coaching methodologies of the Real Madrid Foundation, looking at the educational aspects, for our coaches to implement in their training sessions.

Corey Holder: First and foremost, Paco aka the Pac man aka The Games Master, was probably the main reason for me enjoying the course so much. Some of the group discussions that we had sometimes added on an extra hour to the day but they were so insightful and where I probably learnt the most. The content of the course was good but Paco really brought it to life making you think and to review your own coaching style without saying ‘this is the right way’ or ‘this is the wrong way’. From the course, my session structure and planning will take a change for the better so the best is yet to be seen and the boys on the Kinetic Academy programme will hopefully be able to develop even more with how I’ve slightly adjusted on how I see coaching!”

Adam Flemming: “Paco was great! He helped bring the course to life and I found it really insightful! I enjoyed experiencing football from another culture and look forward to implementing a number of things into my coaching. Best part for me was bettering session design, it’s one thing I am always looking to develop to keep me on my toes as well as all players that I coach.”

Moses Emannuel: “Really enjoyable couple of days with Paco, which allowed us to see football coaching from a different perspective and culture. How to engage or motive players better in the way we do and set tasks. Provide that platform to challenge and problem solve decisions that players make by themselves.”

Kieran Taylor: “Paco gave an insightful perspective of coaching in terms of planning and methodology. The perspective of training remaining game based whilst linked to a pre-planned objectives throughout a session is definitely something I will take forward on my coaching journey. As we discovered, this provided players with a more holistic understanding of skills that are transferred from training to the playing field!”

The Real Madrid Foundation works with local groups to establish social sports schools across the globe. All of the schools have the remit of providing educational values through sport for the integration of young people at risk of social exclusion. The combination of organised physical activity and engaging educational activities aim to help combat the issues faced by the local community.
