We welcomed employees from Mott MacDonald in Croydon to a 7-a-side football tournament held at one of our partner schools – Harris City Academy Crystal Palace. After some intense games full of great goals and some ridiculous skills on show, the winning team was Shiloh, Oliver, Paolo, Andre, Adrian, Lorenzo and Niall from Mott MacDonald.

The tournament was followed by an hour of talks, food and networking allowing our young people to ask questions and advice of the employees about routes in to engineering and university, Mott MacDonald as a business and the type of projects undertaken by the firm.

Blake Loyza, Kinetic Scholar and Year 13 student at Harris City Academy Crystal Palace: “The evening was great fun and the Mott MacDonald players were great to play with. I am not sure what I want to do when I finish school but hearing from the Mott MacDonald employees what engineering actually is and the role it plays, it would be quite cool to work on a project changing things in England in the future.”

James Fotheringham, Kinetic Co-Founder: “Bringing people together and engaging them through football we find is one of the best ways to break down conversational barriers and build rapport between adult and young person. We rely upon both financial and volunteering commitments or organisations, so running events with valuable partners is so important to the future of the charity. This support enables us to raise aspirations of the young people, hear insightful journeys into employment from people from similar backgrounds and hopefully keep educational attainment levels high.”
